Full description

Horner, W., 2001, Untitled Source (Site Visit). SDV93773.

Well exposed beside hedgebank on access lane to West Barton, Horwood. Not recorded on 1st edition OS 25" map. The well shaft is c20m deep, roughly square cut through shillet. The well head appears to have had a central access through a mortared stone-vaulted roof. Timbers (?oak) retrieved from within shaft by owners. Looks post-medieval but no dating evidence from fill.
