Summary

The site was in agricultural use until the 1860's when 'Honiton Town Council' constructed a trapezium-shaped reservoir covering 0.18 hectares. This Victorian reservoir was disused by 1903, being superceded at the end of the 19th century by the Springfield Water Works.

Exeter Archaeology produced a report in July 2001 prior to the development of a roughly triangular 'South West Water' depot site bounded by 'Hale Lane' to the north, 'King's Road' to the southwest and a residential area to the east. The site was in agricultural use until the 1860's when 'Honiton Town Council' constructed a trapezium-shaped reservoir covering 0.18 hectares. This Victorian reservoir was disused by 1903, being superceded at the end of the 19th century by the Springfield Water Works.
