A 15C medieval manuscript outlining a Confessor's itinerary through the parish of Bere Ferrers mentions a tenement called 'Rumleigh'. It was recorded as 'Romeley' in 1298, 'Rumlegh' in 1311 & 'Romlegh' in 1321. The occupants were probably associated with the local medieval silver mines.
