Prehistoric hut circle south-east of Sherwell on Corndon Down part of the Dartmeet parallel reave system. A hut circle with stony turf-covered walls has a diameter of 7.1 metres, with a level interior and no definable entrance. The wall is 1.4 metres thick and 0.7 metres high.

Hut circle. Part of an Iron Age settlement, which may have been started in the Bronze Age, with associated fields. Other details: Figure.

Beeson, M. M. R. + Masterman, M. C. H., 1979, An Archaeological Survey of Enclosed Land in Widecombe-In-The-Moor Parish, 713 (Report - Survey). SDV337078.

(Site visited 15/5/1979). Together with PRN 6455, 6456 and 26345 this hut circle forms a group of four dwellings with a field system which is heavily lyncheted within the modern farm enclosure. It is Iron Age but could have been started in the Bronze Age. Other details: Volume 4.

One of at least ten hut circles in the Sherwell prehistoric settlement, which consists of a number of fields within the reave system, many with a single hut circle built at the edge or corner.
Hut circle 8 is visible as a heather-covered bank and measures 6.5 meters in diameter and is visible from the road near the corner of the enclosure. Other details: Map 15, 1.
