A possible ring ditch is visible on aerial photographs of 1984 as a cropmark to the north east of Barnfield Cottages, Nether Exe. The visible cropmark is less than 1 metre wide and encloses an area approximately 7 metres in diameter. The cropmark is possibly evidence of a small round house of later prehistoric to Roman date.
The cropmark is slightly hexagonal in appearance, and it must be considered possible that it is caused by natural features such as frost cracking in the river gravels of the Exe Valley floodplain.
