The track is first depicted on the First Edition 25 inch Ordnance Survey map of between the 1880’s-90’s.

Site visit by Gatehouse, Simpson and Horner. The track leading to Snapes Point was metalled during World War II for access to the fuel depot (see PRN 56361). Previously local sources say it had been intended as a trackbed of a light railway but may have seen use as an estate track only. It is now farm access track and Public Right of Way.
