Summary

Hut circle south-east of Yar Tor; one of seven hut circles located on Yartor Down, at the junction of the Dartmeet to Ollsbrim and the Sherwell / Ponsworthy roads. A mainly turf-covered circle with some internal stones in situ. This hut has a level interior and is built into a slight slope with no definable entrance. The diameter measures 8.8 metres, with walls 1.6 metres thick and 0.6 metres high.

(Spetember 1951) Hut circle A; one of two hut circles. In rather poor condition with stones having fallen inwards and outwards. There is a gap of 4.0 metres in the walling on the north-east.

(22/05/1980) On the south east slope of Yartor Down at 386m OD are two Type 2 hut circles in fair condition (see ground photographs). The level interiors have diameters measuring 8.6m and 6.0m with walling 1.6m wide and 0.8m high. The smaller, at SX 68167368, adjoins a bank of the prehistoric field system (see SX 67 SE 94 and plan). Only the larger hut at SX 68187366 has a visible entrance to the south east.

Three possible hut circles at SX68197357, SX68167355, SX68147352, and a probable double hut circle at SX68177367. All set with medieval ridge and furrow integrated into the parallel reave system (PRN 6030). Visible on 1980 National Monuments Record aerial photograph.
