Full description

Reed, S. J., 2002, Archaeological Survey and Recording at Meadowsfoot Beach, Mothecombe, South Devon, 3 (Report - Survey). SDV140214.
Sealed beneath the buried soil was a single shallow pit/gully, 0.2m deep and 1.7m wide, cut into the underlying dune sand. The fill consisted of brown sandy clay containing abundant charcoal and red burnt clay fragments. Fill samples yielded charred oats, henbane, legume and hazelnut fragments. Charred oats give a carbon 14 date of AD530-780 at 94.8% confidence. No evidence of in situ burning. No finds.
