Full description

National Trust, 2000, Killerton Estate Archaeological Survey. Part 4. The Farms: Ashclyst - Elbury, 403/10 (Report - Survey). SDV337022.

One of the larger quarries on the Killerton Estate was probably in use from C18-C20 providing stone for the farm buildings at 'Killerton' and the rebuilding at 'Budlake'. On the OS (1889) map the quarry occupies c1.5 acres + retains the same shape. 'Quarry Lane' used to run almost to 'Budlake Farm' buildings but was truncated by the M5 motorway. The quarry is now an SSSI.
