Full description

Ordnance Survey Archaeology Division, 1953, SX68SE31 (Ordnance Survey Archaeology Division Card). SDV314705.

(19/03/1953) Hut A SX 6944 8222. Of southern group, of those circles scattered on Shapley Common. Hut measures 5.0 metres in internal diameter, with wall width 1.5 metres, height 1.4 metres. Unusually large stones built into the wall.

(Visited 01/08/2001) Centred SX 6940 8222: A cluster of seven hut circles adjoining the walls of a sub-ovoid enclosure immediately east of Cullacombe Head. The huts (see related records), are of two main constructional types, massively built and crude hollows. All have been excavated and display sunken interiors with diameters of between 2.2 metres and 6 metres. None of the huts possess a well-defined entrance.
SX 6945 8220 Measures 6.0 metres in diameter, with walls 1.5 wide, 1.3 metres high.
