The gardens at Exeleigh House are shown on the Ordnance Survey (1890) 1:2500 map to extend to the east and south of the house between the River Exe and the mill leat. The 1841 tithe apportionment describes it as 'lawn' comprising a meadow of circa 2.5 hectares. The meadow was divided by a boundary running east to west and contained scattered trees. The textile factory to the west gradually encroached on the garden through the 20th century until by the time of the Ordnance Survey (1972) 1:2500 map the garden had gone.
