Summary
One of three Bronze Age hut circles terraced into the hillside on the right bank of the Assycombe Brook. The hut has been extensively robbed of stone and survives as a 6.4 metre diameter circular earthwork stepped into the terrace. A breach in the bank on the south-east side probably represents the entrance. All three hut circles have suffered disturbance by forestry activity.

Hut b. A smaller hut, partly overgrown, to north-east of hut a.

Fernworthy Plantation. Assacombe 9C. Hut circle, 5.1 metres diameter. On a platform site cut into a west facing slope. Largest stone has fallen away. Not intestigated. Has been planted over.
February 1976. One tree growing inside, five trees growing in the walls. 16 posts ringing clearance zone enclosing 9C and 10C. Trees standing within. Trees outside post ring are within falling distance of hut.
Not included in 1955 Spooner and Dixon report.
