11 Castle Street formed the north-west end of the electricity works in 1903. The earliest reference to the property was in 1606 when it was described as 'latelie enclosed' and tenancies can be traced through the 17th to 19th centuries. John Wood's map of 1843 suggests an open quayside at the rear.
