HER Number:MDV65945
Name:Boat Yard

Summary

A boat builder's yard developed around graving dock lock after the 1869s but the only evidence of this today is a steel boiler and grate with brick and slate surround on the east side of the lock. There are also two flat section steel posts, set in nearby vegetation, that carry a series of riveted hooks that may have been used to hold steamed timbers to a required curve as they cooled to shape (british waterways).
