Fish weir not marked.

List of fish traps recorded as a hazard to shipping on 19th century charts. Not known if Lower Yelland, number 9, is extant.


Preece, C., 2002, Fish Weirs: As Irritating As Traffic Cones (Article in Serial). SDV342210.

Extract from Denham map of 1832 shows fishweirs as chevron-like features. Number 9 is located to north-west of Home Farm Marsh.

Notes location of weir 9, Lower Yelland. Stakes as far apart as 200 metres. May represent different structures, phases of building or one large structure.

Lower Yelland, number 9, has not been located, but from the Denham chart appears to be another 'V' shaped example. Other details: Figure 3.

Fish weir referred to a 'Lower Yelland' in the newsletter of spring 2003 appears to be the one listed as 'Yelland Power Station' in the article of 2005, and that of Lower Yelland has not been located.
