Full description

Gerrard, S., 1990-2002, Monument Protection Programme. Archaeological Item Dataset., MPP 157244 (Report - Survey). SDV277946.

Site visited on 9th may 2002. Three interconnected leats 190 metres south-south-east of Eylesbarrow, forming part of Eylesbarrow Tin Mine. A series of leats leading from lode-back pits, although they may have once originated from the reservoir. These leats probably carried water to the tinworks to the south and may have drained the lode-back pits to the north. These leats are comparatively large measuring up to 2 metres wide and 1 metre deep. Banks on both sides, although the largest is on the west measuring up to 2.5 metres wide by 0.8 metres high. Their size may support the hypothesis that they are hushes draining water form the mine workings.
