Name:Hut circle 215 metres east of Cuckoo Rock

Summary

Diameter measures 8.0 metres. Single and double orthostat wall 1.5 metres wide, 0.95 metres high. A 175 degree facing gap measuring 1.0 metre wide represents a clearly defined doorway, although not with edge set slabs. Wall of single orthostatic construction except on the south where it is of double orthostatic construction.
A 3.0 metre long, 1.4 metre wide and 0.4 metre high mound within the hut orientated at 50 degrees may represent a partition or collapse of a wall. Grass and bracken cover noted.

Stone hut circle 215 metres east of Cuckoo Rock forming part of a prehistoric settlement.
(SX 5868 6874) Diameter 8.0 metres. Single and double orthostat wall 1.5 metres wide, 0.95 metres high. A 175 degree facing gap measuring 1.0 metre wide represents a clearly defined doorway, although not with edge set slabs. Wall of single orthostatic construction except on the south where it is of double orthostatic construction.

(11/01/2008) These four scattered and unenclosed huts lie on an exposed boulder-covered hillside. They have been robbed and the fragmentary walls now lie in deep bracken. Surveyed at 1:2500 scale.
