Ordnance Survey, 1880-1899, First Edition Ordnance 25 inch map (Cartographic). SDV336179.

One of eight 'Hut Circles' shown on 19th century map.

Turner, J. R., 1976, Ancient Monuments on Forestry Commission Land. Fernworthy and Bellever (Report - non-specific). SDV351823.

Fernworthy Hemstone Rocks (F) Hut circle (6F)
Hut circle 45 metres east-north-east of hut 5F. 4.1 metres in diameter, on a platform site, cut into a south-east facing slope. Unable to determine thickness of stone wall. Largest stone measures 0.65 metres height, 1.1 metres width, 0.4 metres thick. Not investigated, has been planted over.
February 1976. Posts ringing clearance zone, enclosing sites 6F-9F. Trees standing inside. Trees outside post ring are within falling distance of hut.
1955 Spooner/Dixon report: (B) Region north of the South Teign, (Froggymeade, Toms Hill and Hemstone), site no.19. Not identified.

No work has been carried out on this group since 1976. Access to sites 3F-5f is very difficult, some of the posts need attention.

Site visit 28th April 1997. Hut circle at SX64858380 forming part of unenclosed settlement. Diameter 3.8 metres. Single orthostat and earthwork wall 1.4 metres wide, 0.6 metres high. Internal area 11.33 metres.

Visited on 2nd August 1995. Hut circle at SX64858380 of 3.6 metres diameter with walls 1.2 metres wide by 0.4 metres high. This hut has been overplanted.

Fernworthy Hemstone Rocks. 6F-9F. Site visit 27th September 1996. Hut circles (6F/7F), ring cairn (8F) and cairn (9F). Site within a deforested area on the edge of woodland. The posts on the west side have disappeared or have been knocked over, presumably during felling. Brash is covering the site. The site needs immediate attention concerning its future management.

An earthwork ring with levelled interior and internal diameter of approximately 4.5 metres. Only one large stone survives in place on the north-east arc of the building.
