Cranbury was first mentioned in 1238 as 'Cranebir', as 'Cranbyr' in 1244 & as 'Crambury' in 1615.

Cranbury farm. Traditional North Devon farm building. Two-period structure 19C cob barn at one end and late 18C or early 19C animal house at other end. Motared rag-slate roof with terracotta ridge tiles. Adjacent building 19C single storey range, including root house, trap house, granary wash house and pig house. Rubble and brick dressings with rag slate roof.
