'East Yagland' marked on 1880s-1890s 25 inc Ordnance Survey map, comprising a small group of buildings.

Yagland is reffered to as Yaggalong in 1320, Yaggelande in 1381 and Yeageland in 1566. The name may be derived from Eagga's or Geagga's land.
