An irregular shaped depression circa 40 metres by 25 metres is visible as an earthwork on visualisations derived from lidar data captured in 2005. The depression is situated on a west facing slope above the River Tamar south-west of Hardstone Cottage.
The depression corresponds with a quarry depicted on the Ordnance Survey 25 inch First Edition map and subsequent historic and modern maps.
The depression is interpreted as an extractive pit of probable 19th century origin that ceased to be worked by the early 20th century.
