The shute tithe apportionment of 1842 describes three dwellings at hampton (pye + turton).

The settlement at 'hampton' was first mentioned in 1244, as 'heaunton' in 1277 & as 'hehampton' in 1481 (gover et al).

Settlement of Hampton is first documented in 1244. Ordnance Survey map of 1891 shows the buildings of Higher and Lower Hampton mainly to west of the road. The present Little Hampton to east of road appears to be modern.
