Series of quarry pits formed by the extraction of granite. There are three main pits along with smaller depressions lying on the west facing slope below the Old Light and the track leading to Ackland's Moor. There are large lumps of granite still visible in the sides and bottoms of the pits, otherewise the site is mainly grassed over. All of the pits are irregular in shape. The largest pit is situated immediately south-west of a hut circle.
