Ordnance Survey, 1904 - 1906, Second Edition Ordnance Survey 25 inch Map (Cartographic). SDV325644.

At this grid reference, marked 'Watch House' on 1:10,560 Ordnance Survey map, there is a pile of rubble close by the coastal footpath, adjacent to an early field boundary. This appears to be the remains of a coastal observation post, but research has so far discovered no date of origin for this feature. An iron fixing bolt for a flagpole or other device can still be seen.

Pink, F., 2014, South Devon Coast Rapid Coastal Zone Assessment Survey Desk-Based Assessment (Interpretation). SDV357736.

A 'Watch House' is labelled on both the First Edition 25 inch Ordnance Survey map of between the 1880’s-90’s and the Second Edition 25 inch Ordnance Survey map of between 1904-06, at The Warren. It is unclear if this Watch House depicted on historic maps represents the same monument as an Observation Post recorded some 250m to the southwest.
