A 19th century source suggests that earthworks termed Roman camp were visible to the north of the promontory fort.
The northern defences of the hillfort (SX69SW/13) have been enclosed by a bank and ditch of Medieval origins. No surface indications of ridge and furrow, though east side of enclosure is a lynchet over 1.5m deep.
NB: identification of Austin description with above is not certain - Griffiths, D. M.

Visible on the aerial photographs used in project and recorded on map overlays.
