Summary
Two alignments of tin pits west of Dead Lake streamwork. The conical pits are on verage 1-3m diameter and up to 1m deep. Each has a small crescentic spoil heap on the lower side. The pits are aligned approximately WNW. The northern alignment (centred SX 5617 7878) extends over 400m with central gap. The southern line is centred SX 5630 786. An additional cluster of pits lies at the north of the streamwork at SX 5644 7872. The pits are likely to be tin prospecting pits from the medieval or post-medieval period.
