Summary
Early c18 ‘marquis adit’ which was amalgamated into ‘bedford united mine’ in the mid c19 was surveyed in 2003. The inclined opening is c9m high x up to 1.8m wide & the adit is visible for c10m with horizontal timbers for 7m. Another early c18 adit portal 0.9m x 0.5m high is located to the southwest at sx43697263. The floor has collapsed leaving a small flooded opening (buck).
