Name:Thomas's Shaft, Ding Dong Mine

Summary

Site of a shaft shown on the 1867 survey & the os (1884) maps. The feature was known as ‘thomas’s shaft’ & was sited on the ‘ding dong lode’ probably ventilating the underground workings. The survey in 2003 found no surface evidence for the shaft in an area forming the front lawn of ‘hatchwood house’. The owners of the house had the shaft capped with a concrete slab c2000 (buck).
