Summary

The survey in 2003 found slight undulations in the pasture field which may indicate the site of a shaft described in 2000 as ‘old shaft’. The shaft probably ventilated underground workings (buck). A sub-oval earthwork bank is visible in this location on visualisations derived from lidar data captured in 2010 and 2013.

The survey in 2003 found slight undulations in the pasture field which may indicate the site of a shaft described in 2000 as ‘old shaft’. The shaft probably ventilated underground workings (buck).

The earthwork corresponds with a dashed-line feature depicted on the late 19th century First Edition Ordnance Survey map.
