Summary

Site of a shaft shown on the 1867 lode map as ‘shaft (arched)’ & on the 1867 survey plan with a flat rod slot extending to the north. The shaft is sited on ‘south lode’ & was probably used to pump or wind ore from the working levels. It was later described as ‘flat rod shaft’. The survey in 2003 found the unfenced shaft 3m x 3m x 1.8m deep with vertical sides. The masonry flat rod slot 0.8m wide x 1m deep is visible on the north side of the shaft (buck).
