Basford, C., Plan of Military Training Site on Bicton and East Budleigh Commons (Cartographic). SDV345782.

Accommodation in Nissen Huts, usually in blocks of four.

Immediately to northwest of Wheathill Plantation in area bounded by two north-northeast-south-southwest trackways are footings (brick and concrete) of a number of former buildings are visible in area cleared of trees. Structures are probably related to former World War Two army camp as visible on 1946/1947 aerial photographs (see site 69).The following remains were noted, however, there are doubtlessly many more beneath the accumulated soil and undergrowth in surrounding areas.
1. At SY 04024 84889 foundations circa 4 metres by 11 metres.
2. At SY 04034 84888 foundations circa 4 metres by 4 metres (not completely visible).
3. At SY 04044 84881 foundations circa 3 metres by 8 metres approximately (much not visible).
4. At SY 04055 84897 small brick chamber 1 metre by 0.75 metre (possibly water supply?)
5. At SY 04056 84920 foundations circa 2 metres by circa 10 metres.
6. At SY 04055 84932 corner of foundations.
7. At SY 04004 84946 few bricks visible only.
8. At SY 03987 84974, line of brick circa 12 metres long visible east-west.
9. At SY 03957 84991 brick chamber circa 1 metre by 0.75 metre.
10. At SY 03936 84986 remains of iron container, circa 10 metres by 2 metres aligned northwest-southeast.
11. At SY 03939 84988 brick footings aligned northwest-southeast visible for circa 10 metres.
