An extraction pit of probable post-medieval to modern date is visible as an earthwork pit on aerial photographs of 1996 and on digital images derived from aerial photographs taken in 2010, within Squabmoor Plantation. The former clay or gravel extraction pit is circular in shape, measures approximately 11m in diameter and is located within an area dominated by similar such pits, many of which are depicted on historical mapping. The earthwork was not clearly visible on aerial photographs before 1996 owing to a thick coverage of vegetation.
