Full description

Dyer, M. J. + Whiteaway, T. E., 2003, Archaeological Recording During Gas Main Replacement Works, Woodbury Lane, Axminster, Devon (Report - Watching Brief). SDV320799.

A ditch 1.2m wide x 0.6m deep aligned east to west was exposed during recording by Exeter Archaeology in 2003. Sherds of 3C-4C Roman pottery & a fragment of Roman roof tile were recovered. Some 40m to the south a large pit c2m wide x 0.35m deep was partly exposed from which over 20 sherds of Roman pottery were recovered.
