This monument includes a bowl barrow situated on the watershed between the valleys of a tributary to the River Tamar and a tributary to Derwent Water. The monument includes a circular mound which measures 33.2 metres in diameter and 1.3 metres high. The surrounding quarry ditch from which material to construct the mound was derived is preserved as an approximately 3 metres wide buried feature. Bowl barrows are funerary monuments dating from the Late Neolithic period to the Late Bronze Age. The barrow survives well and will contain both archaeological information relating to the monument itself as well as environmental material concerning the surrounding landscape. Other details: Monument 34271.

The earthworks are situated within land parcel 226 on the mid-19th century Parish Tithe Map, which is recorded as ‘Burrow Moor’ on the accompanying Tithe Apportionment. It does not correspond with any features shown on this map, although an earthwork labelled as ‘Barrow’ is depicted here on the late 19th century First Edition Ordnance Survey map.
The visible earthworks correspond with features previously transcribed from aerial photographs during the Tamar Valley NMP survey.
