Full description

The remains of medieval strip fields are shown on OS 25" (1880s) map to the west of Sampford Peverell & to the southeast at around NGR ST035-142-.

Old maps clearly show signs of medieval strip farming around Sampford Peverell village.

This reports presents the results of a magnetometer survey on land at Higher Town, Sampford Peverell. The survey was commissioned by AC Archaeology on behalf of clients.
Groups 2, 3, 4, 5, 6, 7, 8, 10, and 11 are likely to be boundaries of strip fields depicted on the Ordnance Survey 2nd edition map of 1904.
