Full description

Buck, C., 2002, Devon Great Consols: Archaeological Assessment, 45+Fig 8,13,38 (Report - Assessment). SDV241758.

Adit Shaft shown on 1867 lode map at Wheal Maria mine but not on 1884 OS map. The shaft is blocked c2.3m below ground level on the west side where the timber lining is visible. A granite marker was located in the centre & c6m to the north of the shaft a depression 4.8m square x 1.5m deep may represent another shaft. To the west of these features a round flat area on a spoilheap appears to be a horsewhim platform. Other details: Site 8.
