Full description

Buck, C., 2002, Devon Great Consols: Archaeological Assessment, 47+fig 38 (Report - Assessment). SDV241758.

Two adits to the east of the stream were located during a survey & used to drain the underground workings of Wheal Maria mine from the Capel Tor Lode to the east. The open adit portal 1m wide x 2.3m high above the water has timber supports. The second adit 20m to the south at SX41547404 had a collapsed adit portal with a leat running south parallel to the stream & joining it at SX41557396. At SX41547403 a water filled stone sided tunnel with a collapsed roof runs under the leat. Other details: Site 13-14.
