Full description

Buck, C., 2002, Devon Great Consols: Archaeological Assessment, 48+fig 13,38 (Report - Assessment). SDV241758.

The 1867 map of Wheal Maria mine shows a water outlet from a contaminant settling tank to the stream tributary. The survey found a shallow timber lined adit or culvert 0.4m wide x 0.3m deep. This feature may be of a later date taking water from a pond of adit outflow from the Wheal Maria foundry area. The boundary banks of the 14m x 11m rectangular pond were 0.48m high with an outlet leat upslope to only allow cleaner water to be removed. Other details: Site 16.
