Drainage adit from the Wheal Maria dressing floors or the later foundry. The adit was found during survey to be 0.75m deep x 0.7m wide with a stone portal stone located c2m above ground level. A pair of parallel leats located to the west are shown on a map of 1867 & were fed by two adits issuing from the stone wall below the access road around Wheal Maria foundry (see PRN 56079). The upper leat c2m wide with a 0.5m bank on the west side runs southwest from SX41637388 to SX41607383 & appeared to have fed the reservoir pond for the water wheel (see PRN 71291). The lower leat c3m wide with a 0.5m bank on the west side runs from SX41627389 to SX41597383. Two other drainage portals not shown on the 19C maps were found at SX41607383 & SX41627376.
