Full description

Buck, C., 2002, Devon Great Consols: Archaeological Assessment, 93-94+ Figs 14,38 (Report - Assessment). SDV241758.

The 1848 map shows this part of the valley to be occupied by the upper Wheal Fanny reservoir (see PRN 71338) but by 1857 the upper pond had gone & the site was labelled 'Capt. Richard's Meadow'. The 1884 OS map shows a walled garden to the east of 'Wheal Fanny (Copper)' with four subdivisions. The survey found the northern & western walls acting as retaining walls for the higher banks where leats still ran. Other details: Site 109.
