Full description

Buck, C., 2002, Devon Great Consols: Archaeological Assessment, 94+ Fig 38 (Report - Assessment). SDV241758.

The portal of a tunnel is shown on OS 3rd Edition map & has been interpreted as an incline railway tunnel that ran from Wheal Anna Maria arsenic works to Wheal Fanny mine. It is possible that this later tunnel enlarged a leat tunnel constructed by 1848. The survey found the stone arched tunnel portal 1.65m wide x 1.7m deep with a concrete tunnel extending for c9m under the road. Other details: Site 111.
