Ordnance Survey 1890 map shows a well on Bucehayes Common to west of a northwest/southeast footpath. The well may have served Hillplat Cottage to south (now Bucehayes Cottage) and/or perhaps the unnamed cottage shown just off the common at the north end of the track (see site 447). No traces of the well were seen during the field survey. This part of the common is very boggy and under tussocky grass.
