Full description

Barn and shippons approximately 10 metres to south of Christmas Farmhouse
Probably late C17 with some late C19 alterations. Rendered cob on stone rubble plinth, partly rebuilt in stone rubble. Half-hipped corrugated-iron
roof, stepped down slope (probably formerly thatched).
Plan: Range aligned approximately north-east/south-west, facing south-east (ground falls to right). Barn with central opposed cart entrances, small one-storey shippon/stable to left and lower larger shippon to right with loft above.
Exterior: Barn has central cart entrance with probably early C20 pair of large plank doors (left-hand one 2 leaf) and wooden lintel. Probably C20 small-paned window to right, in older opening with wooden lintel. Plank door to small shippon/stable to left, with wooden lintel. Shippon adjoining to right has central loft opening with wooden lintel with probably C20 small-paned window, ground-floor C19 slatted wooden window to left with wooden lintel and pair of plank doors divided by stone pier and with continuous wooden lintel. Rear cart entrance of barn blocked, probably in the late C19 and small plank door inserted.
Interior of barn: Six-bay roof. Two late C17 trusses with straight principals and halved lap-jointed collars, two C19 trusses without collars and one C20 truss. Other details: LBS 91683.
