A number of adits were found in this area including one shown on the 1867 map. The survey in 2002 found an adit portal at the above location with water issuing from a stone arch 5m wide x 0.4m high. To the west at SX43547362 a sump shaft or water culvert was found with water emerging from a stone-lined culvert & disappearing into a stone-lined shaft with a retaining wall 2.5m long x 1.25m high. To the east of the adit at SX43577363 the survey found a possible adit lobby or cutting 2.5m wide x 2m deep which may be the outflow for an adit shaft (see PRN 71503).
