Full description

Buck, C., 2002, Devon Great Consols: Archaeological Assessment, 180-1 Fig 38 (Report - Assessment). SDV241758.

Possible site of a working or dressing area near Agnes Shaft at Wheal Emma. The site is not shown on the 19C maps but may have been a preliminary ore-processing site. The survey in 2002 found a rectangular platform with a 0.5m high dry stone retaining wall on the eastern side. A small stone lined opening 2m x 1.2m was found at SX43597355. A hole in the northeast corner was 0.9m deep but the feature did not appear to be a shaft. Other details: Sites 272 & 272/1.
