Full description

Buck, C., 2002, Devon Great Consols: Archaeological Assessment, 211-2 Fig 38 (Report - Assessment). SDV241758.

Two small outcrop shafts or lode-back pits were found at South Wheal Fanny mine during the survey in 2002. A depression 2.5m x 2.5m x 3.5m deep with an opening 4.5m x 4.5m was probably a small outcrop shaft. A depression with a small leat running into it c4.5m south may have been a capstan or a second small shaft 3.5m x 3.5m. Another possible shaft 1.75m diameter x 3.5m deep was found 5m to the north at SX42787286. Other details: Sites 334 & 335.
