Full description

Buck, C., 2002, Devon Great Consols: Archaeological Assessment, 236, Fig 38 (Report - Assessment). SDV241758.

The woodland on the west facing hill above the River Tamar consists of deciduous trees & charcoal burning platforms are likely to have been distributed around Devon Great Consols. Little evidence of these medieval &/or post medieval features survive. The survey in 2002 found an area of platforms up to 5m long x up to 3m wide centred at this location. The platforms are cut into the hill slope giving rear faces up to 0.7m high & are distributed across the side of the hill. Other details: Site 384.
