Full description

Buck, C., 2002, Devon Great Consols: Archaeological Assessment, 237, Fig 38 (Report - Assessment). SDV241758.

The survey in 2002 at Devon Great Consols mines found a large area of small prospecting & lode back pits in Blanchdown Wood running east from SX42147290 to SX42257294. Two parallel lines of pits c25m apart with average dimensions of the southern line of 1.8m long x 1.2m wide x up to 1.2m deep. The elliptical shaped spoil heaps on the downslope sides were c1m high. The pits in the northern line were deeper & included 30m of openwork. Other details: Site 386.
