The Rev D Keep related that the chapel at Gulliford was so prosperous under Jervis that a second site was obtained in the early 19th century in the village of Lympstone where the house called Ellenthorpe now stands. It was rented to the Primitive Methodists in 1867and sold in 1887. The land to the east of Ellenthorpe was used as a burial ground for the chapel. The car park and part of the cellars of 'The Redwing' have revealed human remains and were part of the graveyard.
