Bell, J. S., 2005, Archaeological recording at Willow Tree Road, Rumsam, Barnstaple (Report - Watching Brief). SDV323286.

An archaeological watching brief was undertaken by Exeter Archaeology in 2005 prior to development of the site to the south-east of Willow Tree Road in Rumsam. A 1 metre section of 0.3 metre wide stone wall was exposed in the north-west corner of the site with the remains of a surface 2.75 metres by 0.75 metres on the northern side. An L-shaped building is shown at the site on the 1844 Bishops Tawton Tithe Map, and a smaller structure is shown on the Ordnance Survey First edition (1890) map. Artefacts recovered included pot, glass and clay pipe fragments dating to the 18th or 19th century.
